RN Speaks out on my SSRI Terrible Withdrawal

3 Weeks of Lexapro and feeling TERRIBLE. I weaned correctly and still paying the price. Stick with 5-HTP if you need to get on an antidepressant so you don’t change the Physiological processes in your brain.

    PSYCHIATRY KILLS!

HELP! I posted naughty pics on my channel when I was drunk with my boyfriend and now I can’t get them off?

  3. wauquelin says:

I think ppl have to actually be hospitalized if their benzo dependency is strong enough. I heard you could have some lethal side effects from withdrawal. My father has been a valium addict for 30 years. He says he’ll never go off it.

  4. wauquelin says:

Yeah, the shrink has me on 10 mg of valium for the past 6 months now. I feel funny if I try to stop taking it. I don’t know if it’s psychological or if I’m hooked now. I refuse to take a higher dose of it for that reason.

If Gary thinks lexapro is bad, he has yet to experience true pain and horror that xanax will bring when he tries to come off it. It is much easier to come off heroin than a benzo like xanax. I was on lexapro for 3 years. I came off lexapro and it was painful but nothing compared to the benzo. Only take benzos after all other drugs have been tried and exhausted. Benzo withdrawal is a walk thru hell and I am not kidding. SSRI’s bad. Benzos are horrible.

  6. DigitalAnonymous says:

Benzos are a lot worse than the ssri’s. Many ppl can not detox from benzos. Heroin is easier to come off and I am not kidding. I attempted suicide 2 times when the klonopin I had taken for nearly a decade pooped out on me. SSRI are a walk in the park compared to a benzo like klonopin or xanax.

Lastly, I think ssris were developed as a subtle form of euthanasia, since those who take it have no desire for sex. Hence, the risk of passing on mental illness to another generation is greatly reduced. I can’t help but feel as though there’s another method to the madness of psychiatry. Just look at the history of it. No wonder I used to flush my meds all the time. I should have kept doing it.

  8. ihh100 says:

Just like the tobacco industry, big pharma has found a way to hook people, keep a long term customer base. That’s why ssris were developed. I could go on and off anafranil as I pleased. This displeases both the greedy shrinks and drug manufacturers. No better way than physical dependence and drug tolerance to insure you have a steady flow of customers. I resent it all to fucking hell.

Gone are the days when you could take some meds to get you over a rough spot. Now it’s hella withdrawals and protracted illness to get off them. CEOs of these pharmaceutical companies are laughing their sick fucking asses off and raking in the dough, along with the shrinks who dole this shit out freely. All while we suffer from sexual dysfunction and other side effects from meds that don’t help or cure. I feel like shit on and off luvox. It’s a cash cow for everyone except the mentally ill.

im withdrawing from a tablet called cymbalta at the minute…..only on day 3 and already finding it unbearable. best of luck to you x

It’s bad alright, my old shrink had me on 2mg of Klonipin 5 times a day. When they took me off after about 4 years, they did it in 2 weeks. Doctors who know better sometimes take more than a year to take somebody off of Klonipin, even tapering with valium. Some people do it over 1 or 2 years with a water titration method, using the Klonipin, but that sounds like a pain in the butt.

acupressure for the headaches. For me the two points on the back of the head almost like you are “hooking your skull where it meets the neck.”. Lay down close your eyes and take many deep breaths. Meditation was necessary for me to be able to manage my days. Even still I had some “downtime”. The other drugs are also causing difficulties.

B-vitamin complex with folic acid and the use of fish cod liver oils in large doses with meals may help with the anxiety.

Hope that help sum. G’luck peace.

I spent 4 months withdrawing from 10mg Lex and I still didn’t manage to avoid withdrawal. I had the most severe headaches I have ever experienced, vomiting, shaking, anger attacks, severe depression, brain zaps, electric shocks through the body etc etc. It took months to recover and I still have memory loss and post ssri sexual dysfunction - diagnosed by myself because doctors seem to think I’m lying.

Good luck to everyone withdrawing. It’s difficult and can be prolonged but it gets easier.

  15. tmerinen says:

This is a great video. I’m going through withdrawals right now from Zoloft and the only way I can describe the feeling in my head is like a brief second of debilitating seizing of function in my brain. It feels if it were to last longer I would be completely handicapped. Aka brain zaps. My doctor told me it is harmless but I’m not so sure I believe that.

  16. mcnabj says:

Never ever ever go cold turkey. You will rebound into a world of hurt. Slow taper is key. Can you get generic meds at Walmart? They have them for $4 a month. You really need to reinstate the medication and do a very slow taper.

  17. mcnabj says:

I was on celexa for 8-9 years. It took my 1 year to slowly taper and then I had withdrawals for about a year longer. This stuff is very powerful and the withdrawals are brutal. Time is the only thing that will help. A slow withdrawal or taper is key. These poisons almost killed me. Fuck big pharma and their lies about SSRI’s . Be strong. Dr. Peter Briggins has a few books about this issue.

  18. jbchamber says:

Thanks Gary for posting this….Anyone have any advice on quitting cold turkey - I know it is not recommended, but I have no choice, I lost my medical insurance and cannot afford the medication to ween off of it. I was 75mg of Effexor XR. I have only been off for 3 days and I am experiencing the brain zaps, shivers, and dizziness

  19. thespa77 says:

have faith that your body will adjust. I am going off a lose dose, 5 mg and have very mild withdrawal symptoms.

You will be fine. Just be patient.

This is why I wish doctors would prescribe low doses and see how that does.

Good luck and I assure you it will pass. I’ve been throw withdrawal twice now and became fine after about 4 weeks, 8 weeks for everything to be gone.

  20. themuffinman001 says:

yea i have a friend on this stuff who is also an alcoholic, bad combo.

  21. TheWiesel4879 says:

Hi ,I am on 35mg of Lexapro Prescibed by my Phyciatrist, if I miss 1 day I am shaking ,flu symtoms, feeling really light headed.I also take 10mg of Ciprapine,I also take 15mg of Zispin at night.I have the same thing about dreams,my dreams are intense when I wake it takes an hour to calm down.

  22. Sparklette says:

These drugs allow toxins to build up in the body & the load becomes too much. Maybe there’s also a need for detoxification.
Also, look up a subject called multiple chemial sensitivity.
Also any advice, avoid drinking & eating sticky things, eat as healthy as you can.

  23. azza1121 says:

There’s no doubt that the neurochemistry of Lexapro is for real and it does help with depression, but it’s also why our arses are getting kicked while trying to come off it! But in the meantime, ZZZZZIIIIINGGGG!!! (oof)

  24. daveydave168 says:

2nd week of coming off lexapro 10mg, going through hell, bad headaches, nausea etc. never touching this crap again

  25. thomasbhunter007 says:

If it is any help, I had exactly the same problem getting off Paxil. That stuff was made by Satan’s pharmacist.
